Community Outreach
As part of an effort to develop leaders and uphold the dignity of vulnerable homeowners, we run several initiatives to make our neighborhood stronger, safer, and more peaceful. Our team facilitates conversations about community needs and opportunities, and responds with custom strategies that address the felt needs of neighbors.
Current efforts include revitalizing and reopening Fowler Park and Pool, a long-neglected public space with great potential for emerging as the centerpiece gathering space for neighbors of all ages, running a YouthBuild site in which neighbors gain job skills and academic help, and launching an Urban Farming Initiative in which staff, neighbors, and students are reclaiming vacant land for garden space, seeing young people be trained in ecology, nutrition, and environmental stewardship, and establishing a Farmer's Market, the first of its kind in our part of the city.
