Afterschool Programs for Grades 6-8
In concert with the calendar for the Pittsburgh Public Schools, we operate REACH ACADEMY, an afterschool program for 50 students in grades 6-8. It operates Monday through Friday, from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. Each day, students receive a healthy snack, homework help, and academic assistance under the guidance of our staff members and volunteer tutors. Reach Academy students choose electives from Computers, Fitness, Basketball, Visual Arts, and Keyboarding. Students participate in theme events with special guests as well as in occasional recreational and educational field trips. Occasionally, our staff members organize service projects in which participants make differences in the lives of other people.
In all our afterschool programs, our staff members model healthy relationships with one another and with students, so that young people can learn to treat each other with respect. Through Bible studies and life application discussions, students grow in their knowledge and love of God, and how they can follow Christ in their daily activities. Our program coordinators include certified educators, and our teachers are trained, caring adults.
September 18, 2012 to May 17, 2013
This program requires tuition of $150 per student, with the possibility of a $30 discount for income-eligible families. Occasional field trips incur a small additional cost.
